Common questions

How do I get into the Grown-Ups settings?
On the register screen tap Grown-Ups, then press and hold inside the box with two fingers for three seconds. The instructions are written only, on purpose, so pre-readers can't follow them.
What is the difference between Little Kids and Big Kids?
Little Kids (about K to 2) uses whole-dollar prices, no sales tax, dollar tips, and whole-dollar change. Big Kids (about grades 3 to 5) uses dollars and cents, sales tax, 15/20/25 percent tips, and full coins-and-bills count-up change. Switch modes in Grown-Ups.
The sales tax rate is wrong for where we live.
The default 8.5 percent is a placeholder. Set your real local rate in Grown-Ups, or turn tax off.
Why does the app ask to use the camera?
To take pictures of things for the store and to read barcodes. Photos stay on the iPad. You can also add items with emoji or from the photo library instead.
Barcode scanning doesn't work in the Simulator or on my older iPad.
Scanning needs a camera and a device that supports Apple's barcode reader. Items still work without it.
How do I print play money?
Grown-Ups, then Make play money PDF. It opens the share sheet so you can print with AirPrint or save to Files.
Can more than one kid have their own earnings?
Yes. Tap the cashier chip on the register to add cashiers. Each sale is credited to whoever is clocked in, and My Sales shows earnings per cashier.
Where is the data stored? Is it private?
On the iPad only. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. See the privacy policy.
