Star Register
The short version: everything stays on the iPad, including the photos. I never see any of it.
Star Register stores everything on the iPad it runs on. It does not collect, transmit, or sell any data. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The app has no code that talks to the internet.
The app stores what your child creates while playing: the store name, the logo they draw, the names and prices of items, photos of items taken with the camera or chosen from the photo library, cashier names and picked emoji avatars, and the pretend sales they ring up. All of it is saved in the app's private storage on the iPad and protected by iPadOS data protection.
The camera is used for two things: taking a picture of an item to put in the store, and reading a barcode so a real product can ring up as a pretend item. Pictures stay inside the app on the iPad. Choosing a photo from the library uses Apple's photo picker, so the app only receives the single photo your child picks and never has access to the rest of the library.
Nothing leaves the iPad unless a grown-up chooses to print or share the play-money PDF from the locked Grown-Ups area. That uses the standard iPadOS share sheet, and you pick where it goes.
If iCloud Backup is on, Apple may back up the app's data as part of the device backup. That is controlled by your Apple ID settings, not by this app.
Star Register is made for kids to play, with a grown-up setting it up. Because the app never sends anything anywhere, no personal information about a child is collected by me or by anyone else. The Grown-Ups settings area is locked behind a written two-finger, three-second hold so young children cannot reach the settings or the share sheet.
Deleting an item, cashier, or store removes it from the iPad immediately. Deleting the app removes everything. There is no copy anywhere else to delete, because I never receive it.
If the app ever adds a feature that changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the App Store release notes.
